Occupational/Hand therapy is the art and science of evaluating and treating conditions of the upper extremity (arm, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand). Our aim is to restore the function of our patients after injury, surgery or illness.

It is a 1 on 1 treatment approach that utilizes many techniques to address patient specific needs, treatment goals so that they can improve the skills needed for daily living and occupation.


How Can OT help?

After obtaining a prescription from your referring physician, we will complete a full assessment of your condition/diagnosis.  Utilizing a multitude of techniques to assist, consisting of modalities, manual skills, cupping, instrument assisted manual skills, ergonomic training, joint protection, splinting and therapeutic exercise/strengthening for return to daily, work, and leisure interests.

Common Diagnoses we see include:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Trigger Fingers
  • Crushing Injuries
  • Fractures
  • Nerve Entrapments
  • Tendon Injuries
  • Joint Contractures
  • Post Operative Rehabilitation
  • Splinting needs

Sarah has been working in the Overlook Medical Building now for 16 years with sincere and respectful relationships with the physicians as well as repeat clientele. She provides a very confidential but caring approach with constant communication with surgeons and referring physicians. She works with you based on financial, work and family needs to be able to design an appropriate treatment plan. She makes customized orthosis (splints) for post-operative and arthritic conditions as well as any other orthosis ordered by your physician. She accepts both walk-in referrals and scheduled referrals (but don’t forget your prescription).  She provides education regarding diagnoses, joint protection, ergonomics, orthotics, exercise and support alternative approaches to a positive outcome.  Please feel free to reach out to her with any inquisitions prior to scheduling if needed.
